DeAngelo Log Home 360 Tour

Log home in Pennsylvania

Phil and Ashley DeAngelo planned to build in seven years—but found themselves trudging through waist-deep snow just four years later, scouting property lines. They fell in love with a lot and intended to call the realtor Monday, only to find it sold as a wedding gift. Heartbroken, they were stunned when the property returned to the market a month later. The bride preferred cash, and the DeAngelos not only secured the land—they got three extra acres for just $1,000 more. They quickly got to work, clearing trash from the site and gathering ideas through visits, sketches, and conversations. One fateful drive led them to a Hochstetler Log Home—the McKay model—which fit their vision perfectly. Working with Hochstetler, they designed a home that blended Phil’s desire for cathedral ceilings and 8x8 logs with Ashley’s need for a loft and flat interior walls.Exactly seven years after they first dreamed it, they placed the order. With help from W&W Yoder Construction and Hochstetler, their dream came to life. “You can feel the solidness of this home,” said Phil. Their advice: plan carefully, expect surprises, and don’t wait until you’re old—start living the dream now.

Kelley Log Home 360 Tour

Custom log home in Tennessee

Marcus and Jamie Kelley dreamed of building a log home in the Tennessee mountains where they could relax and reconnect with nature. After attending Hochstetler’s Log Cabin Days and Log Home University, they began the search for land near Nashville. Eventually, they found a 10-acre wooded ridge outside Kingston Springs—teeming with wildlife and Eastern Box turtles, which inspired the name “Turtle Hill.”A local realtor recommended Hochstetler Log Homes and builder Ammon Miller. After reviewing and adjusting their plans with Hochstetler’s team, including designer Steve Lykins and project coordinator Joseph Hochstetler, the Kelleys created an open-concept home with rustic charm. Highlights include hand-peeled rafters, sliding barn doors, and a towering stone fireplace. The exterior features expansive decks, while the lower level resembles a cozy English pub—complete with stained glass, timber posts, and pub-inspired décor.Construction began in August 2016 and was completed in just eight months. The Kelleys served as their own general contractors, handling interior work while Ammon and his team tackled the structure. Thanksgiving that year was celebrated with a homemade feast around a makeshift table—marking the successful completion of their dream. “Turtle Hill” is now a retreat filled with warmth, beauty, and unforgettable character.

Covington Log Home 360 Tour

Larry Covington's dream of building a log home began in childhood with Lincoln Logs and grew over years of cabin stays in Gatlinburg. A hunting trip in Kentucky led him to a place called Serenity Hill—and he knew if he ever built a cabin, that’s what he’d call it. Years later, while helping a friend move to Tennessee, he felt called back to his roots. He found two scenic lots in a mountain community, made an offer, and began planning. After researching multiple companies, Larry chose Hochstetler Log Homes for their true post and beam design, SIP roof system, and solid log gables. Working with their design team, he modified a floorplan to fit his vision: a 3-bedroom, 2.5-bath home with a loft and full basement.Larry sold his Florida home and lived in a camper on-site during construction. Despite weather delays, he moved in a year later. The home reflects his love of hunting and individuality—with knotty hickory cabinets, whiskey barrel pantry doors, cast metal wildlife railing panels, and mixed-species flooring. Now, Larry’s favorite places are the den with its massive fireplace and the covered deck labeled “Serenity Hill”—where peace, wildlife, and mountain views surround him.Ask ChatGPT
